Kolonics Winery

Somló, the smallest wine region in Hungary, is a volcanic hill north of Lake Balaton, with unique basalt soil. Károly Kolonics is a charismatic winemaker that, now the fourth generation at the helm of his family’s estate, produces wines of extreme purity, varietal character and terroir expression. Kolonics farms a total of 9 hectares, planted with Furmint, Riesling, Hárslevelű, Olaszrizling and Juhfark. The vineyards are worked sustainably by hand and yields are kept incredibly low to ensure only the best fruit is harvested. The result is a range of modern, classical single-varietal and single vineyard wines that have gained an international following.
