Somlo is famous for a big hill, borne from volcanic rock which possesses incredible minerality. The wines from this area are known for an incredible, vivacious minerality that runs through them.

Kolonic’s Olasz Riesling is a complex example of what can be produced, partly down to the wine being aged in 15-year-old oak barrels which help it develop the array of aromas, flavours and textures. Expect a journey through different flavours and you sniff, sip and taste; peach stone, apple, lemon, floral notes and followed an undertone of sweeter notes then again into a pleasing grapefruit pith bitterness which refreshes your palate. Whilst fantastic now, due to the large mineral backbone, this wine will continue to develop and change for the next 20 years.
